Mt Rawdon
Overview LGL's Mt Rawdon operation is an open pit gold and silver mine and process plant located in the North Burnett Region of Queensland, approximately 80 kilometres south-west of Bundaberg. The project is a high-quality, long-life operation producing gold at very competitive cash costs. Set in picturesque countryside, Mt Rawdon is a 15 minute drive from the predominantly rural community of Mount Perry, which is a small town situated at the foot of its namesake. Originally a sheep grazing area, the town was established when copper and traces of gold were discovered in the early 1860s. LGL Mt Rawdon is the single largest employer in the area, with around 130 employees. Beef is also a prominent industry, with vineyards and olive groves increasing in popularity. With a local population of around 440, Mount Perry offers a quiet, relaxed lifestyle in a charming country setting. The region’s climate is regarded as one of the best in Australia, characterised by a generally dry winter and wet summer season. The average minimum temperature is 11 degrees and the average maximum is 24 degrees. The township is well serviced by all amenities, including medical facilities, police and emergency services, schooling and quality accommodation options. In addition, it is located only a short drive to Bundaberg and the Fraser Coast, which offer a wealth of fishing and other recreational activities.
