Kirkalocka site overview
In June 2008 LGL finalised a merger with mid-tier gold producer Equigold NL. Equigold's Kirkalocka project is located 70km south of the town of Mount Magnet in the Murchison region of Western Australia. At the time of the merger, the Kirkalocka operation was nearing completion. The plant treated its last ore on 14 August 2008 before ceasing operations. The plant was then placed into care and maintenance on 12 September. Gold production attributable to the LGL group in 2008 was 9,400 ounces. Following the mine's closure, the exploration and mining tenements forming the Kirkalocka project were sold to a third party with LGL retaining an interest via a shareholding in the third party.
